308 feet of elevation requires 96 TRIPS UP (29,032 feet of climbing) to achieve an Everest summit.
How many times do I have to climb Horseshoe Resort Mountain?
Do we all climb together as a team (all team members together) or in a relay format (one after another)?
You can all climb together – because as our tagline says, ‘Together We Climb’.
What if one of my teammates drops out?
The idea is that your team reaches 96 climbs. Therefore, if someone drops out, a couple of your teammates can climb to make up the difference. Literally, you will be ‘taking one for the team’.
How old do you need to be to participate?
Participants need to be at least 10 years old on the day of the event.
What happens if I can’t raise the money?
The minimum fundraising requirement for the event is $250 minimum per participant. This is part of the agreement when you register for the event. If you are having trouble or are uncertain, we will work with you to help you get to $250 minimum. Email simon@solutionswithimpact.com if you are having trouble.
What’s the difference between fundraising and the registration fee?
The registration fee for the event is for the event – venue fee, logistics, etc. The fundraising goal is the difference-maker for the Foundation and all donations are eligible for a tax receipt.
Can I get a refund?
Sorry, there are no refunds for the event. However, if there are extenuating circumstances, you can transfer your registration to someone else. Please contact simon@solutionswithimpact.com
What happens if my team doesn’t finish?
Just try your best – it doesn’t matter how far you go, as long as you are having a good time getting there.
Is there a rain date?
No, this is a rain or shine event. Bring your raincoat.
Which trails will we be allowed to use?
The trails will be determined the week before the event. Horseshoe Resort and the Everest Challenge team must take into consideration the condition of the trails prior to the event. Rain, snow, mud, and sun can all affect which trails we will be able to use on the event day.
The event organizers may change the routes at their discretion due to unexpected and unforeseen circumstances that might interfere with the event or that might endanger participants.
Can I train on any trail before the event?
No – please only train on existing, marked hiking trails. Do not train on mountain biking trails and/or closed trails.
The event starts at 9:00 am on October 06th, when do you think it will end?
Most teams are finished around 2:00 pm however, for those who want to continue the challenge the course will be open until 4:00 pm.
All teams will get a passport that needs to be stamped at the of the gondola and then reviewed at the bottom so we can add your team’s progress to the leader board.
